Abstract

|
The Authors have experienced a case of general anesthesia for a patient of cong-enital esophageal atresia with tracheo-esophageal fistula.
Anesthesia was induced and maintained with nitrous oxide-oxygen-halothane under Ayre´s T-piece, preceded by awake endotracheal intubation following prelim-inary oxygenation.
The importance of preliminary pre-operative treatment, atraumatic intubation, maintenance of adequate ventilation & circulation frequent suctioning of airway secretions and of treating pulmonary complications been stressed.
